I knew from the start that I would want to experiment with a new style, so I focused on creating a video collage that told a story. I wanted to have the calm beginning, the building up of everything and then the chaos unleashed and the aftermath, so that when the user began watching the content, they felt more immersed in it.
Style Board
I wanted to have the title sequence be a video collage style. I also wanted to stylize the title in a way that made it feel like an old archive tape that was being processed by some sort of AI.
Mood Boards
I wanted to convey a mysterious idea of death and destruction with a little bit of horror, the true reality of a post apocalyptic world. The goal was to have the title sequence reflect this dark, dystopian world.
Takeaways
I stepped out of my comfort zone with this. I tried something new that I hadn't really done before, so I felt like I learned a lot about compositing an assortment of media and finding a way to make it all feel cohesive. I also learned a lot about how to tell a story through the combination of different media. While there are many things I would improve, I am happy with how it turned out.
